The vision for the first ever Barnsley Youth Choir album was simple: the choir was keen to create a 'live' sound that wasn't over-produced, and would be faithfully representative of the sound audiences hear at concerts. The choir, soloists and band members were recorded performing together - exactly as they would in a live concert - to try and capture the sound and relationship between performers. This all helped to capture the excitement of a live performance, which was then subjected to minimal editing and mixing. Barnsley Youth Choir - established in 2009 by Mathew Wright and Keith Norton - is an award winning choir of 270 young people aged 7 - 24 years old from Barnsley and its environs. While performing a range of styles, BYC is most renowned for performing Pop and Gospel music. A huge team of adult volunteers support the choir, which is a registered charity. More information can be found at www.barnsleyyouthchoir.org.uk You can follow the choir's social media feeds at www.twitter.com/BarnsleyYouthChoir and via www.facebook.com/BarnsleyYouthChoir The choir owes a debt of thanks to so many for making this debut album possible. Huge thanks in particular go to Jack Green from Jack Green Audio and Dr. Al McNichol for their support in recording and mixing.
